Published in 1960 by the Museum of Science, Boston, this field guide to Castle Neck, Ipswich, Massachusetts was the inspiration of Mr. Cornelius Crane.

In 1958, Mr. Crane asked the Museum of Science, Boston, if they would be willing to undertake a survey of this typical dune area if funds were made available for the study. The Museum was delighted to cooperate in the project, and their Education Department undertook it with enthusiasm.

Education staff members, Laurence B. White, Jr. and Geoffrey Moran, moved to Castle Neck in the summer of 1958 and lived in Thoreau-like exploration of the beach and dunes, the swamps and woodlands of Castle Neck.

This field guide to the natural history of Castle Neck, Ipswich, MA is a classic, old school reference book for the home or classroom, filled with interesting line drawing illustrations.
